Chapter 14 - Dash

Struggling not to smirk with amusement at Raya’s obvious astonishment the moment they stepped onto one of his father’s three private jets, he urged her to take a seat. He wanted to be in the air as soon as possible. She continued to glance around the sleek cream interior even as she silently did as he said, clearly too awestruck to argue. It was a welcome relief not to have her arguing with him, and he settled himself in the seat opposite her after instructing the pilot of their destination and their need to hurry.

Raya’s silence didn’t last very long and almost as soon as they were up in the air, she seemed to revert right back to her old self. “You know we can’t just walk right into Italy, right? Not since supernaturals came out of the closet.”

Dash couldn’t help but laugh at that. “You remember who I am, right?” he responded and watched her face drop with distaste at his need to be so bigheaded.

“That doesn’t mean you can ignore the rules,” Raya snapped back at him, crossing her arms over her chest. Dash had to discreetly avert his eyes due to the way her breasts bulged thanks to her folded arms. He wasn’t about to get distracted by her, not after all the arguing they’d already been through. That can’t happen again, he reminded himself, we’re here because of Delilah. “Even Finn and Delilah would have needed help, and he’s the grand-nephew of the fairy queen.”

Again, Dash had to bite his lip to stop himself from laughing outright. Raya wasn’t exactly wrong, but he liked the fact that she underestimated him. “Don’t worry. It’s all already taken care of. While you were calling your manager, I made a few calls of my own. Let’s just say I know enough people to get us through security.”

Dash thought of all the fun times he’d had with the female members of security at the Italian airports. Being a handsome shifter definitely had its advantages when it came to wanting to get in and out of a country without going through all the usual channels supernaturals had to go through nowadays. It didn’t stop him from feeling the sting when he saw Raya roll her eyes and growl, “Right, I forgot what a player you are.”

How does she know I was talking about women? He asked himself even as he asked aloud, “Is that really what you think of me?”

Raya scowled at him then, leaning back in her cream leather seat as she reminded him, “You slept with me and then ghosted me. Then you told me I was basically nothing to you and it was a one-time thing. You should know exactly what I think of you.” Her gaze burrowed into his and Dash found it increasingly difficult to meet. “Whether you like it or not, Dash, you’re a player.”

It was at that moment that the pilot’s voice sounded over the intercom, “Okay, guys, please feel free to take off your seatbelts and enjoy the ride.
